Your guess

YOUR GUESS
I can't know you
Guess my face my eyes
Your guess is as good as mine
The weight of your head in my arms
And the sound of the streets
The taste of your tongue sweet
I can't know you.
And when the night opens up in golden wings
Lift me up, lift me up, lift me up
Wrapped in your fine bead dress
Your caged love bird song
Maësharn Maësharn Maësharn
I can't know you
So don't turn your head from mine
I want to see behind your closed eyes...
Stags touch the water's edge
And emerald serpents rise.
The desert night stirs
With unholy sighs/size
Like poems like choirs.
And when the night opens up in golden wings
Lift me up lift me up lift me up
Wrapped in your fine bead dress
Your caged love
Bird song
Maësharn Maësharn Maësharn.

Hawksmoor and the savage

HAWKSMOOR AND THE SAVAGE
I've been hunting, out again
I'm holding up all that I've found here -
A head
And a piece of meat
The meat bleeds
The head speaks
A string of pearls of wisdom
A necklace of teeth
The spider and the fly
In the end which one am I?.
Petals fall
In the garden as I walk
To the house called winter
And when I wake again
I find the souls of men
Illusive, misunderstood
Growing with the yarrow
In the purple shaded wood
Savage!
Throw me another line
But cast it out
Just a little bit further next time
The spider and the fly
In the end which one am I?.
And I'm standing blood smeared
Looking out across wastelands
What's in my sights?.

Winter sea

WINTER SEA
Arise sea
Black rocking waves above me
In the winter morning
And in my head I see a land
Steppes of green my love.
Oh winter sea
Your funnel blows
The sails flick gracefully
Below the whales turning
Invisible
Oh John wait for me
Though the snow is falling onto the sea
A sun rises red over me.
I smell the land but I cannot see
Any trace of earth or tree
I smell the winter rain on the dark streets
Crossing your legs hand on your chin
Watching me my love.
Can you hear me in Moscow
As the snow turns to rain
Over land locked fields
From Paris to Marseille
Can you hear me in Rostock
Can you hear me in Maine?
Oh winter sea.

Seasons and the storms

SEASONS AND THE STORMS
Rising, lifts her up
Up above his head
And takes her outside
Bringing out the sunshine,
Smiling freckle face
Eyes just like a cat
He swings her back down
Looks at the clock and turns around...
A boys voice deep wading across the moor
His hands to his lips he shouts.
Gold rays of light
Shine though the hammock on the lawn
Shadows rising with the dawn
With the rhythms of the seasons and the storms
Beating on the shore.
Standing by the car
The house behind she says
We'll catch the high tide
And holds a hand above her eyes
Clouds pass to the south
There's ships out in the bay
The weathers set fine
And everything seems far away...
A woman's feet
Moving across the floor
Her hand on her hip
Her mouth.
Gold rays of light
Shine though the hammock on the lawn
Shadows rising in the dawn
With the rhythms of the seasons and the storms
Gold rays of light
Shine though the hammock on the lawn
Breaking on the shore.

The sleepers

THE SLEEPERS
Quicksilver light
Shines on the sheets
I saw you standing there
Against the dark window
Beneath the white bedclothes
The sleepers lie
One loose limbed on his back
One turned on her side
And we see their slim figures curl
Across the heath
Sublime and ridiculous
Naked obese
Dipping in and out of pools
Of everlasting peace
Sleep blinded eyes
Their feet kicking out
Joined at the hip
Joined at the mouth.
And he sees the dust coast round
Her neck her cheek
Observes the moonlight passing across
The soles of his feet
The sleepers fly
Unchained in the night
One loose limbed on his back
One turned on her side.

Bridges

BRIDGES
Oh come take the bridges with me
Through the streets of the town
Where we would meet
I follow you down
Your silent call
Slits of sky where the winter falls
Oh take me to the bridges of your town
Past the waterways, railways and by-roads
Down down my love we go
Thin streets and alleyways
In the beautiful snow
Your lips red like flowers grow
Down down the paths we go
Ransacked my heart
Floats into the dark.
Show me the streets
Where the waters speak
Last night I dreamed about your house
Precarious on the fault line
Last night I dreamed about your face
Immovable as the summer night
I'm in your arms now
High in the garrets above the town
Stars shining here above the sea
Come down
Come die with me
My hand inside your head
Between your legs
Oh take me through the bridges of your town.

THE BELLS OF SAINT CHRISTOPHER'S
I get out of bed and I stand on the cold hard floor
My breath smoking in front of me and the window frozen
A child crying in the street
And a woman smiles in her sleep
And I hear the bells of saint Christopher's call
And the hammers below bouncing off the walls.
I face myself grey in the looking glass
And I see my eyes up close where the pupils spark
The sky is hanging like ripped curtains above the town
And the trains pull in and out of the station
Making their heavy sound
And all around the chaos rang
A rainbow arcs perfect across this troubled land.

BODEN
In the night Boden moves
Through fields where the moon shone
Geese fly from his mouth
And outside
Thin breeze through the damson trees
And they sleep on, sleep on….
Boden came to a house
Along a wild and narrow lane
Smoke from a single chimney came
A waterfall, moonlight on the wall
And outside in the damson trees
A thin breeze
And they sleep on, sleep on….
And the sleepers fall deeper
His hand on her ribcage
Her heart unwound
Sculpted around him.
And the light of the moon
Throws patterns on his body
Moves silent around the room.
How the long night grows
Through their fingers and their toes
And outside
Thin breeze thought the damson trees
And they sleep on sleep on….

The skeins of love

THE SKEINS OF LOVE
(Wait there - wait there
And I will come)
The skeins of love are tied
Untied and welded
Wrapped around my hands my feet my arms
The skeins of love
Are drawn across this map these streets this land
Like wires
(Wait there - wait there
And we will come)
The skeins of love
Drift behind your back
Beneath our skin
Reckless and billowing
The skeins of love
Brilliant in the nights slow flood
Born into the waves
(Wait there - wait there
And we will come)
The skeins of love
Steady as the pumping of our blood.
Bewildering, fabulous it plays
In its polyhedron ways
To dance
The dance untold.
